Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting February 19,2015 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida She said they also evaluated the presentation of the basic Financial Statements and believe that they incorporate everything necessary to obtain the Government Finance Officers' Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. They also issued two (2) compliance reports, one was in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and in that report they addressed two(2)vital functions of the City. The first is the internal control over Financial Reporting, there was no matter that they considered to be significant deficiencies or material weaknesses. Secondly was a report on compliance and there were no instances of non-compliance. They also issued a report that addresses the Federal and State Single Audit Act. The City complied in all material respects that the compliance requirements are applicable to the City's major programs. Again this year,your major program was several forfeitures,and you had expenditures of approximately 5992,000. There were no new accounting policies adopted,and the application of existing policies was not changed during the year. They noted no transactions for which there is a lack of authoritative guidance. Accounting estimates are an intricate part of Financial Statements that are prepared by Management. During their audit they reviewed those estimates and found that they comply with recommended Best Practices. They had no disagreements with Management during the course of their audit. They granted full access to all the documentation and records they requested. Ms. Calvert stated that this year was kind of a challenge for both them and the City due to the conversion to new software that happened at year-end. But they dug in and put in all the extra hours that were needed in order to complete the audit in a timely manner. She said the City's 2013 Financial Statements received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and she believes that the 2014 Statements will also receive this distinguished award. This is due to the hard work in the Finance Department with the leadership of Finance Director Audra Curts-Whann and Assistant Finance Director Tiffany Neely-Jean, and also to the Commission's support in achieving this Award. Mayor Scholl on behalf of the City Commission thanked Ms. Calvert and Finance Director Curts-Whann and her staff for doing a great job and for delivering the Audit in a very timely manner. It is so great to hear a report like this that has no adverse comments and everything went well. He knows a lot of that is due to the Auditor's hard work and the hard work of our Finance team. Commissioner Aelion moved and Commissioner Levin seconded a motion to accept the Audit Report for Fiscal Year 2013/2014. The motion was approved by a voice vote of 5- 0 in favor.
