ORDINANCE NO. 2015- 1457 <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br /> FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 62 OF THE CODE OF <br /> ORDINANCES TO CLARIFY THAT PURCHASES LESS THAN <br /> $50,000.00 MAY BE MADE, OR ENTERED INTO, BY THE CITY <br /> MANAGER WITHOUT SUBMITTAL TO THE CITY <br /> COMMISSION, BUT SHALL OTHERWISE REQUIRE <br /> COMPLIANCE WITH THE COMPETITIVE BIDDING <br /> REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH IN CHAPTER 62; PROVIDING <br /> FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION IN THE <br /> CODE; PROVIDING FOR REPEALER OF CONFLICTING <br /> PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of Chapter 62 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny <br /> Isles Beach (the "Procurement Code") is to provide for the fair and equitable treatment of all <br /> persons involved in purchasing by the City, to maximize the purchasing value of public funds in <br /> procurement, and to provide safeguards for maintaining a procurement system of quality and <br /> integrity; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 62 applies to all contracts for the procurement of supplies, services <br /> and construction entered into by the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 62 currently requires that the City Commission shall approve all <br /> purchases of or contracts for materials, supplies, equipment, public improvements or services <br /> where the total amount to be expended is more than $25,000.00; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to amend Chapter 62 of the City Code to <br /> clarify that purchases less than $50,000.00 may be made by, or enter into, by the City Manager <br /> without submittal to the City Commission, but shall otherwise require compliance with the <br /> competitive bidding requirements set forth in Chapter 62. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Incorporation of Recitals. The foregoing "WHEREAS" clauses are hereby ratified <br /> and confirmed as being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part by this Ordinance <br /> upon adoption hereof <br /> Section 2. Amendment. Chapter 62 of the City Code is amended to read as follows: <br /> § 62-6.
