SUMMARY MINUTES City of Sunny Isles Beach Historic Preservation Board Meeting Government Center, 18070 Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach Tuesday, January 15, 2008, 7:00 p.m. 1. Call To Order By Chairperson: Action: Chairperson Joe Masters called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The following Committee Members and City Officials were present: Committee Members: City Officials: Joe Masters, Chairperson Mayor Norman S. John Szerlag Assistant City Attorney Fernando Amuchastegui City Clerk Jane A. Hines, CMC City Liaison: Audience: Richard C. Schulman, City Historian Arthur Brame Absent Members: Trina Duluc 2. Approval of Minutes for the September II, 2007 Historic Preservation Board Meeting: Action: Phillip Chemoff noted a change on page 6, last sentence of third paragraph, should read as follows: "Philip Chemoff noted that he volunteered to be a tour guide as a member of the City's Fashion, Film,Entertainment&Production Council,and ...". Cassey Gabor noted changes on page 2, in the middle of the third paragraph,it should read"Cassey Gabor asked about the restaurant,that it can be fixed and bring revenue to the City,...", and on page 6,the first sentence should read"City in Town Center Park as a continuation of the pathway that will go through the Harvey Baker Graves Mangrove Reserve, and ...", and in paragraph 6. second sentence, should read "and have it as an Historic Station for the Water Taxi. with memorabilia from the Lagoon Restaurant". Phillip Chemoff moved and Cassey Gabor seconded a motion to approve the September 11,2007 Board meeting summary minutes, as amended. The motion was approved by a 6-0-1 (Trina Duluc absent) vote. 3. Resolutions/Discussion: Update on the Newport Fishing Pier. A Resolution of the Historic Preservation Board of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Expressing Support for the City's Efforts to Enter into Separate Lease Agreements with the State of Florida and Five Seas Investors,Inc. in Order to Repair,Reconstruct and Operate the Newport Fishing Pier; Providing for an Effective Date. Action: Chairperson Masters introduced City Manager A. John Szerlag who reported on the status of the Newport Fishing Pier. City Manager Szerlag handed out a report that will be discussed at the Summary Minutes 2008-0115 HPB Mtg Page 1 of 4
