Call to Order by Chairperson: <br /> Action: Chairperson Joe Masters called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m., and each Member <br /> introduced themselves. Approval of Minutes of the January 23, 2013 Historic Preservation Board Meeting. <br /> Action: Shari Blank moved and Warren Stamm seconded a motion to approve the above- <br /> mentioned Board meeting summary minutes. The motion was approved by a voice vote of <br /> 6-0-1 (Jorge Camaraza absent) in favor. <br /> 3. Update/Report on the Sunny Isles Beach/Newport Pier. <br /> Action: City Manager Christopher J. Russo gave an update on the Pier noting that it will be <br /> completed by May 28, 2013. The opening of the Pier and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled <br /> on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with refreshments,music,and fireworks. <br /> He invited the Board members to attend and to be a part of the ceremony. He said the goal is to <br /> have the plaque mounted and the sculpture in place. He also noted that the City's 16th Birthday <br /> Party will be held at Town Center Park on Sunday, June 16, 2013 from noon to 4:00 p.m. <br /> Assistant City Manager Bill Evans reported on the overall construction. They are painting the <br /> structure, the hand railings are almost finished, and bulk of the work is taking place inside the <br /> restaurant structure itself from a finishing standpoint. There are no appliances but it will be <br /> ready for the outside restaurant to come in and put their look on the inside. There is a lot of <br /> grading work to be done to bring sand back up to a level where we are ADA compliant up the <br /> stairs leading into it. Also a leading walk brick pavers coming from the LaPerla side and lead <br /> into the structure itself. Within the next ten(10)days we will have the trailer out of there and the <br /> parking lot completely restored, and all vegetation restored along with that. The area where the <br /> shower is will be remediated. The Pier Park bathrooms are rehabbed and painted. Next week we <br /> will do a fresh landscaping review of that area. We are striving for May 28 to get the TCO, and <br /> it may take a few more weeks for the CO.
