SUMMARY MINUTES <br /> SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION MEETING —3rd BUDGET HEARING <br /> Tuesday, November 28, 2000, 6:00 p.m. <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA <br /> ATTENTION ALL LOBBYISTS: CITY LAW REQUIRES YOUR REGISTRATION PRIOR TO LOBBYING. <br /> PLEASE CONTACT THE CITY CLERK FOR FORMS AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. <br /> 1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS <br /> The meeting was called to order by Mayor Samson at 6:01 p.m., with the following officials <br /> present: <br /> Mayor David Samson <br /> Vice Mayor Lila Kauffman <br /> Commissioner Connie Morrow <br /> Commissioner Irving Turetsky <br /> City Manager Christopher J. Russo <br /> City Attorney Lynn Dannheisser <br /> City Clerk Richard Brown-Morilla <br /> Commissioner Danny Iglesias (absent) <br /> 2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE AND INVOCATION <br /> Action: Mayor Samson led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. <br /> 3. CITY COMMISSION BUDGET DISCUSSION <br /> Action: Jean Watson,Finance Director,reported that because the tentative Millage Rate was <br /> not included in the advertised Budget Summary, we were in violation of Florida Statute <br /> §200.065 and, therefore, it was necessary to re-advertise and go through the public hearing <br /> procedure again. <br /> 4. RESOLUTION AND ORDINANCE <br /> 4A. Tax Millage Resolution/Public Hearing <br /> A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Readopting <br /> Resolution No. 2000-276 Establishing the City of Sunny Isles Beach Ad Valorem Tax <br /> Millage Levy Rate at 2.500 Mills per One Thousand (S1,000) Dollars of Taxable Assessed <br /> Value Which is 14.521 Percent Greater than the"Rolled Back"Rate of2.183 Mills for Fiscal <br /> Year 2000-2001; Providing for an Effective Date. <br /> (First Hearing 9/7/00 and <br /> Second Hearing 9/19/00) <br /> Action: City Clerk Brown-Morilla read the title and Jean Watson gave the report. Mayor <br /> Samson opened the public hearing, however there were no speakers. <br /> Public Speakers: none <br />
