Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting March 20,2003 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida <br /> 5. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br /> 5A. A Presentation by the Sunny Isles Beach Civic, Cultural, and Beautification Trust, Inc., <br /> regarding Donation of Historical Artifact of"Horses& Carriage"to be Placed in the <br /> Senator Gwen Margolis Park for Future Public Display. <br /> Action: Acting City Clerk Hines read the title. Herb Abramson, President of the Sunny <br /> Isles Beach Civic, Cultural and Beautification Trust Inc., Richard Schulman and Bob <br /> Kaplan,Co-Committee Chairmen of the Historical Artifacts and Photographs Committee <br /> of the Trust, presented a report. <br /> Public Speakers: Herb Abramson; Richard Schulman <br /> Mr. Schulman noted that this is the first artifact to be donated to the City. The Dezer <br /> family has agreed to transport and place it in the designated area,including a 40-inch high <br /> security fence, which will surround the horses and carriage. He said that the southeast <br /> corner of the Senator Gwen Margolis Park was selected by the Committee, and that the <br /> concept and location was also approved by the City's Architectural and Landscape <br /> Consultant Bill O'Leary. Mr. Schulman said that the Trust recommended that a bronze <br /> plaque also be included with the following wordage: "Horses and Carriage were <br /> landmarks of the Colonial Inn Motel 181st Street and Collins Avenue,donated by Michael <br /> and Neomi Dezer in memory of Simon and Kissia Dezer, 2003". <br /> Vice Mayor Edelcup moved and Commissioner Kauffman seconded a motion to approve <br /> a resolution accepting the above donation to be placed in the southeast corner of the <br /> Senator Gwen Margolis Park,or such other location in the Park as may be deemed <br /> appropriate by the City Manager. Resolution No. 2003-523 was adopted by a roll- <br /> call vote of 4-1 in favor (Mayor Samson opposed). <br /> Vote: Commissioner Goodman yes <br /> Commissioner Iglesias yes <br /> Commissioner Kauffrnan y <br /> Vice Mayor Edelcup yes <br /> Mayor Samson no <br /> 6.
