<br />01570 - 1/5 <br />SECTION 01570 TRAFFIC CONTROL <br />(MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC) <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE: The Work of this Section shall consist of furnishing all labor, material, and <br />equipment and performing all operations in connection with traffic control in accordance <br />with the Drawings and applicable codes and as specified herein. <br />1.02 CONDITIONS OF THE CONTRACT: Apply. <br />1.03 STANDARD REFERENCES: <br />A. The Florida Department of Transportation, "Standard Specifications for Road and <br />Bridge Construction," latest edition, (DOT). <br />B. American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). <br />C. American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). <br />D. County Codes. <br />E. U. S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, "Manual on <br />Uniform Traffic Control Devices," latest edition (FHWA). <br /> <br />1.10 DESCRIPTION <br />A. The Work specified in this Section consists of maintaining traffic within the limits of <br />the project for the duration of the construction period, including any temporary <br />suspensions of the Work. It shall include the construction and maintenance of any <br />necessary detour facilities; the providing of necessary facilities for access to <br />residences, businesses, etc., along the project; the furnishing, installing an <br />maintaining of traffic control and safety devices during construction; the control of <br />dust, and any other special requirements for the safe and expeditious movement of <br />traffic as may be called for on the Drawings. The term, Maintenance of Traffic, shall <br />include all of such facilities, devices, and operations as are required for the safety <br />and convenience of the public as well as for minimizing public nuisance; all as <br />specified in this Section. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR'S responsibility for maintenance of traffic shall begin on the day <br />he starts work on the project or on the first day contract time is charged, whichever is <br />earlier. The CONTRACTOR shall coordinate and obtain traffic plan approval for <br />applicable City, County, and/or FDOT. <br />1.20 SUBMITTALS <br />A. Submit a Maintenance of Traffic Plan signed and sealed by a registered engineer <br />licensed in the State of Florida. <br /> <br />B. Review Process <br />1. Three copies of the Maintenance of Traffic Plans and associated permit <br />applications shall be submitted to the applicable City, County, and State <br />agencies for review.
