<br />01570 - 3/5 <br /> <br />F. Regardless of Traffic Control Plan utilized, it shall be the CONTRACTOR's <br />responsibility to maintain the work zone in a safe condition. <br />G. No additional compensation shall be made for compliance with these <br />requirements. <br />1.50 ACCESS FOR POLICE, FIRE AND POSTAL SERVICE <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible to notify the fire department and police <br />department before closing any street or portion thereof. No closing shall be made <br />without the OWNER'S acceptance. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible to <br />notify said departments when the streets are again passable for emergency vehicles. <br />Do not block off emergency vehicle access to consecutive arterial crossings or dead- <br />end streets, in excess of 300 linear feet, without special written permission from the <br />fire department. The CONTRACTOR shall conduct operations with the least <br />interference to the fire equipment access and at no time prevent such access. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR shall provide an emergency telephone number or numbers with <br />the police department so that contact may be made easily at all times in case of <br />barricade and flare trouble or other emergencies. <br />C. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible to maintain postal service facilities in <br />accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Postal Service. The CONTRACTOR <br />shall move mailboxes to temporary locations designated by the U. S. Postal Service <br />and at the completion of the Work in each area, replace them in their original location <br />and in a condition satisfactory to the U. S. Postal Service. <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 GENERAL: Coordinate with the Drawings to verify which of the following products is used <br />in the work. <br />2.02 HIGHWAY SIGNING: Erecting aluminum or steel roadway signs with supporting posts, at <br />the locations shown on the plans. The roadway signs and material shall conform to the <br />requirements on DOT Standard Specifications: Section 700, Articles 700-1 through 700-7. <br />2.03 REFLECTIVE PAVEMENT MARKERS: Installing reflectorized pavement markers and <br />removing pavement markers within the project limits as designed in the plans. The <br />reflectorized pavement markers and materials shall conform to the requirements of DOT <br />Standard Specifications: Section 706, Articles 706-1 through 706-2. <br />2.04 PAINTING TRAFFIC STRIPES: Painting reflectorized traffic stripes, including edge stripes <br />and traffic guide. The painting and materials shall conform to the requirements of DOT <br />Standard Specifications: Section 710, Article 710-1 through 710-2. <br />2.05 THERMOPLASTIC TRAFFIC STRIPES AND MARKINGS: Placing and materials shall <br />conform to the requirements of DOT Standard Specifications: Section 711, Articles 711-1 <br />through 711-2. <br />
