Florida Building Code and Local Building Codes as appropriate. <br />1.03 DEFINITIONS: <br />A. Structural Concrete: Concrete to be used in all cases except where indicated <br />otherwise in the Contract Documents. <br />B. Pea Gravel Concrete: Concrete in thin sections and areas with congested <br />reinforcing, at the option of the CONTRACTOR and with written approval of the <br />ENGINEER for the specific location. <br />C. Sitework Concrete: Concrete to be used for curbs, gutters, catch basins, sidewalks, <br />pavements, fence and guard post embedment, underground pipe encasement, <br />underground duct bank encasement and all other concrete appurtenant to electrical <br />facilities unless otherwise indicated. <br />D. Lean Concrete: Concrete to be used for thrust blocks, pipe trench cut-off blocks and <br />cradles that are indicated on the Drawings as un-reinforced. Lean concrete shall be <br />used as protective cover for dowels intended for future connection. <br />E. Hydraulic Structure: An environmental engineering concrete structures for the <br />containment, treatment, or transmission of water, wastewater, other fluids, or gases. <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS: <br />A. Mix Designs: <br />1. Prior to beginning the WORK and within 14 days of the Notice to Proceed, the <br />CONTRACTOR shall submit preliminary concrete mix designs which shall <br />show the proportions and gradations of all materials proposed for each class <br />and type of concrete. Mix designs shall be checked by an independent testing <br />laboratory acceptable to the ENGINEER. All costs related to such checking <br />shall be CONTRACTOR’S responsibility.
