In mix designs for structural concrete, the percentage of fine aggregate in total <br />aggregate by weight, shall be as indicated in the following table. <br />Fine Aggregate <br />Fineness Modulus Maximum Percent <br />2.7 or less 41 <br />2.7 to 2.8 42 <br />2.8 to 2.9 43 <br />2.9 to 3.1 44 <br />2. For other concrete, the maximum percentage of fine aggregate of total <br />aggregate, by weight, shall not exceed 50. <br />C. Duct bank concrete shall contain an integral red-oxide coloring pigment. Concrete <br />shall be dyed red throughout. Surface treatment to color duct banks will not be <br />acceptable. <br />D. Water/Cement Ratio and Compressive Strength: <br />1. Water/cement ratio is given for aggregates in saturated-surface dry condition <br />and total moisture of all aggregates, calculated by ASTM C 566, less the <br />absorption of the aggregate as calculated by ASTM C 127 and C 128 shall <br />represent total free moisture in the aggregate determine the water/cement <br />ratio, total free moisture of aggregates shall be added to batch water to <br />estimate water content of concrete.
