Miami Beach Standard Tideflex Outfall Structure Drainage System Design The drainage design needs to be completed in accordance with engineering industry practice and environmental regulatory requirements. Standard runoff curves and rainfall intensity curves need to utilized to estimate runoff under the existing conditions scenario along with the proposed site plan. The South Florida area is typically flat and at lower elevations, therefore the design of the conveyance system has to be completed carefully with appropriate piping and structures to ensure proper drainage flow. Normally a combination of drainage systems are utilized that may include drainage wells, outfalls, retention ponds, exfiltration trenches, or swales. The design can further optimized to reduce construction costs. Force Main Analysis As development increases in South Florida, so do the sanitary sewer requirements. Many sites are redeveloped with higher density commercial and residential developments. Coastal Systems has extensive experience working with Miami-Dade WASD to evaluate the capacity of sewage pump stations and force mains. Coastal Systems has coordinated WASD service agreements, and sewage loads have been prepared for pre/post development conditions to negotiate impact fees in accordance with WASD ® standards.
