• Roadway Planning and Design. Roadway design and planning are mainstays of Kimley-Horn's professional
o practice. Collectively, our engineers have been responsible for the design of more than 2,000 miles of
roadway, much of it here in Florida. We have provided these services for urban, rural, primary, secondary, and
• interstate roadways for clients ranging from local municipalities to state departments of transportation. We
• are well equipped to address all related aspects of roadway design projects such as intersection geometrics,
• utility relocations, traffic control, signalization, and other features. Paving and drainage services are an integral
part of our roadway design projects, and our substantial experience in dealing with regulatory and other
® agencies enables us to secure the necessary permits and approvals for building and upgrading roadway
® facilities. In addition, Kimley-Horn has provided construction administration services on hundreds of miles of
® urban and rural roadways for projects ranging from limited-access arterials, to collector facilities for counties,
cities, and state departments of transportation. Construction phase services include cost estimating, pre-bid
® services, and construction administration/observation.
Our past experience with the City of Miami, towns of Miami Lakes, Cutler Bay, and Bay Harbor Islands, the
Village of Palmetto Bay, and South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), to name a few clients, has
® given us a keen insight into the many complicated stormwater challenges facing South Florida. We have
• demonstrated our ability to develop common sense solutions for stormwater and drainage issues for roadway
construction, as well as an ability to secure permits from SFWMD, Florida Department of Transportation, EPA,
• DEP PERA, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
® Water/Wastewater Facilities. The firm's water and wastewater capabilities encompass all planning, design,
permitting, and construction phase services required from the onset of a project through the approval process
® to completion of the project. Our staff of professionals has extensive experience in the design of new
• systems and the rehabilitation of existing systems, including gravity systems, master pumping stations,
® force mains, lift stations, water mains, and water storage facilities. An important factor in modifying water and
wastewater systems is often maintaining operation of the existing facilities while bringing the new facilities
• on line. Kimley-Horn has extensive experience in successfully and efficiently making these smooth
® transitions. Examples include minimizing downtime for the rehabilitation of the master wastewater pumps
stations for the Town of Bay Harbor Islands and the City of North Bay Village. In both cases, station operation
was maintained while each pump was rehabilitated individually and the new control system was constructed.
• Switch over to the new equipment occurred quickly and efficiently with no impacts to the community.
