RESOLUTION NO. 2016-'Z 55 b <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE <br /> DONATION OF UP TO FIFTEEN (15) SURPLUS PHILIPS <br /> AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS (AED's) TO A <br /> NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, THE "JAMAICANS ABROAD <br /> HELPING JAMAICANS AT HOME" (JAHJAH) FOUNDATION; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br /> NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br /> PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has a surplus supply of <br /> older Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's) that have been taken out of service and replaced <br /> over the past several years as newer technology developed; and <br /> WHEREAS, the CEO and Founder of the "Jamaicans Abroad Helping Jamaicans at <br /> Home" (JAHJAH) Foundation has reached out to our City Manager requesting the donation of <br /> any defibrillators that they can distribute to various facilities throughout Jamaica; and <br /> WHEREAS, the JAHJAH Foundation donates medical supplies and equipment to public <br /> hospitals and healthcare centers in Jamaica, and they share information and technology with <br /> healthcare professionals in Jamaica's public hospitals and healthcare centers; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City wishes to donate up to fifteen (15) surplus Philips Automatic <br /> External Defibrillators to the JAHJAH Foundation. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Donation of Surplus Defibrillators. The City Commission hereby approves the <br /> donation of up to fifteen (15) Philips Automatic External Defibrillators to a non-profit <br /> organization, the "Jamaicans Abroad Helping Jamaicans at Home" (JAHJAH) Foundation. <br /> Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br /> things necessary to effectuate this resolution. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date.
