I he project site has been tilled and
prepared for development, however through
careful planning we propose to remove some of
this fill and restore and regenerate the previously
lost ecosystem. I his new landscape
environment will serve to connect the
undeveloped portions of South Florida, with the
local community, by nestling this new Federal
Building within this context. The landscape
elements of the project are critical in that they will
serve multi-Taceted roles — the reestablishment of
the relationship between the natural processes
and the human activity: the treatment of storm
water and its rGIGasa to replenish lost wetlands;
pruvisiun ut habitats for plants and animals
therefore contributing to the ecological diversity
and contributing to the physical and mental well
being of the users through their interaction with
nature.
c;urtis + Royers is pleased to have conceived the
"Everglades Landscape" concept for the GSA —
Federal Office Building in Miramar Florida which
was developed during the alternative concept
phase ut the prujuct. The approach will not only
greatly assist in successfully achieving credits Tor
the sustainable sites initiative, but will create a
unique and eACiting approach to landscape
dusign in South Florida. The following GSA
Desiyn Review comments speaK to their
enthusiastic endorsement of the conuupt and
their desire to see its successful implementation.
Cost: $ 136.000,000 — Size: 475,000 sq. ft.
25.
