corridor to construct this expanded scope along the full length of 174th Street corridor within the <br /> Phase I limits which was previously completed, in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Forty- <br /> Six Thousand Eight Hundred Three Dollars and Fifty-Three Cents ($246,803.53), bringing the <br /> total contract not to exceed amount to Three Million Five Hundred Seventy-Nine Thousand Five <br /> Hundred Eighty-Two Dollars and Twenty-Eight Cents ($3,579,582.28); and <br /> WHEREAS, the City is now in need of extending the Agreement with Florida <br /> Engineering and Development Corporation: Change Order No. 8 is a time extension of an <br /> additional 98 days for various reasons including but not limited to inclement weather and <br /> coordination with other utility companies; and Change Order No. 9 is a time extension of an <br /> additional 20 days due to a survey verification at the time of construction revealed 1) undulations <br /> in the roadway pavement creating areas of ponding, and 2) existing asphalt varies in thickness <br /> from 1" to 3", in order to minimize this and create a constant flow of water to the existing drains, <br /> more extensive roadwork is required including complete removal of the existing asphalt, and <br /> reworking the base to create more constant slopes, at an additional cost of Twenty-Seven <br /> Thousand Seven Hundred Thirteen Dollars and Fifty Cents ($27,713.50) which will be absorbed <br /> through credits from the base bid, and the remaining balance will be applied to the project <br /> contingency, moving the completion date from the original date of March 30, 2016 to November <br /> 28, 2016; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City being satisfied with the professional construction services <br /> provided by Florida Engineering and Development Corporation, and who has expressed its <br /> ability and desire to provide these services, desires to amend the Agreement; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to approve Change Order Numbers 8 and 9 to <br /> the Agreement with Florida Engineering and Development Corporation, for additional <br /> Professional Construction Services for the 174th Street Roadway Improvements Project, <br /> extending the expiration date to November 28, 2016, attached hereto as Composite Exhibit "A", <br /> the total contract not to exceed amount of Three Million Five Hundred Seventy-Nine Thousand <br /> Five Hundred Eighty-Two Dollars and Twenty-Eight Cents ($3,579,582.28) remains the same. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> Section 1. Approval of Change Orders No. 8 and 9 to the Agreement. The City Commission <br /> hereby approves Change Order Numbers 8 and 9 to the Agreement with Florida Engineering and <br /> Development Corporation for Professional Construction Services for the construction of the <br /> 174th Street Roadway Improvements Project, by extending the Agreement expiration date from <br /> March 30, 2016 to November 28, 2016, attached hereto as Composite Exhibit "A". <br /> Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br /> things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> Section 3. Effective Date.
