Mayor Scholl
noted that Commissioner Aelion is out of town and is joining us tonight via conference call.
Mayor Scholl said he would like to say a few words about Orlando. As many of you know his
day job is managing the Blood Center here in Florida, a company called One Blood. He got
the first call at about 5:00 a.m. on Sunday regarding the tragedy in Orlando because of their
need for the blood supply to aid the victims and meet the surgery needs in Orlando Regional
Medical Center. They had an incredible outpouring from the community on Sunday of blood
donors, and his staff worked until 4:00 a.m. on Monday to assist every donor that was in line,
and then came to work at 10:00 a.m. on Monday and found out that one of their co-workers
was killed in the Club. It was a pretty terrible set of circumstances for One Blood. The only
silver lining was it heighten the awareness of blood donations and we probably collected more
blood in the past week then we have in several months. It was an incredible tragedy and
obviously it is bringing a heighten awareness to a•lot of things not just blood donations but
that happens to be near and dear to his heart. He asked for a moment of silence for the
victims, those injured and for everybody that put their best foot forward to deal with the
tragedy. Mayor Scholl then gave opening remarks of decorum.
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3A.
