Brown <br />6100 Pine Tree Drive <br />Miami Beach, FL 33140 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Brown: <br /> <br />It is my great pleasure to nominate you for the position of City Clerk. We are proposing and you <br />have accepted the following terms of employment: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />Salary. <br /> <br />Annual salary of $40,000.00, subject to the terms set forth below. <br /> <br />2. Thrill.. ' The term of this agreement shall be for a period of one year beginning <br />December 8, 1997. It is understood and agreed that the term of this agreement is designed to allow <br />the City Commission an opportunity to evaluate your performance. Should the City Commission <br />decide to terminate you at any time during the term, you specifically agree that such a decision is <br />totally within the City Commission's discretion and you shall not be entitled to any severance, <br />provided however, you shall be entitled to receive unused, accrued vacation and sick time. <br /> <br />3. Benefits. During the term of the agreement, you shall be entitled to receive City paid: life <br />insurance, health and dental insurance benefits, sick days, vacation days and other holidays accorded <br />all other employees of the City. You shall not be entitled to receive pension benefits, provided <br />however, if you are retained as City Clerk at the expiration of the term of this agreement, you shall <br />receive a pre-tax pension contribution, made retroactive to the first date of your employment, in the <br />amount often percent (10%) of your annual salary. <br /> <br />4. Evaluation. Your performance as Clerk shall be evaluated by the City Commission at the <br />first Commission meeting following the anniversary of the commencement of your employment. <br />At that time, should the City Commission decide to retain you as the City Clerk, you shall be <br />entitled to have your salary raised to a dollar amount between $50,000.00 and $52,000.00 as decided <br />by the City Commission, you shall continue to receive benefits as described in Paragraph 3 <br />hereinabove and the term of your employment shall be open ended at the pleasure of the <br />Commission. <br /> <br />BI'OWI\. let <br />
