<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2010 - ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, DESIGNATING THOR GUARD, <br />INC. AS A SOLE SOURCE VENDOR OF THE DESIRED LIGHTNING <br />PREDICTION AND WARNING SYSTEM; APPROVING THE <br />PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF FOUR (4) SYSTEMS FROM <br />THOR GUARD, INC. FOR PELICAN COMMUNITY P ARK, SENATOR <br />GWEN MARGOLIS PARK, TOWN CENTER PARK, AND SAMSON <br />OCEANFRONT PARK, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY- <br />SIX THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED TEN DOLLARS ($36,310.00); <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING <br />FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to purchase and install a Lightning <br />Prediction and Warning System in certain City Parks for the safety and welfare of its residents <br />and visitors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Thor Guard, Inc. has been identified by the Administration as a "sole <br />source" vendor to provide the Lightning Prediction and Warning System desired by the City of <br />Sunny Isles Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in conjunction with that effort the City wishes to purchase four (4) <br />Lightning Prediction Systems for Pelican Community Park, Senator Gwen Margolis Park, Town <br />Center Park, and Samson Oceanfront Park from Thor Guard, Inc., in an amount not to exceed <br />Thirty-Six Thousand Three Hundred Ten Dollars ($36,310.00), as per the Vendor Agreement <br />attached as Exhibit "A", waiving the competitive bidding process as sole source. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Designation as Sole Source. Thor Guard, Inc. is hereby designated as sole source <br />vendor of the desired Lightning Prediction and Warning Systems. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />purchase the Lightning Prediction and Warning Systems, from Thor Guard, Inc., in an amount <br />not to exceed Thirty-Six Thousand Three Hundred Ten Dollars ($36,310.00), and do all things <br />necessary to effectuate this resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
