RESOLUTION NO. 98- <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING AND ADOPTING MIAMI-DADE <br />COUNTY'S CERTIFICATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH SPECIAL ELECTION THAT WAS HELD ON THURSDAY, <br />OCTOBER 1, 1998, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE <br />ELECTORATE OF THE CITY A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE <br />MUNICIPAL CHARTER CHANGING THE NAME OF THE CITY TO <br />"AVENTURA BEACH," AND DECLARING THAT THE RESULTS THEREOF <br />REFLECT THAT THE QUESTION WAS NOT APPROVED <br />WHEREAS, Section 8.10 of the Municipal Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, <br />required that an election be scheduled to decide whether the name of the City shall be <br />changed to "Aventura Beach"; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach adopted <br />Ordinance No. 98-43, thereby calling a Special Election for October 1, 1998, on the issue <br />of whether to change the name of the City, and; <br />WHEREAS, City Ordinance No. 98-43 authorized Miami -Dade County Supervisor <br />of Elections and his staff of officials to conduct said Special Election, with Miami -Dade <br />County's certification of the results of said Special Election being accepted by the City <br />Commission, and; <br />WHEREAS, the Certification of the official returns for each precinct vote in the <br />October 1, 1998, Sunny Isles Beach Special Election have been furnished to the City Clerk <br />by the Miami -Dade County Supervisor of Elections, and; <br />WHEREAS, the Certification of the Sunny Isles Beach Special Election is attached <br />and incorporated herein as Composite Exhibit "A" and; <br />WHEREAS, the Certification reflects that the ballot question as set forth below was <br />not approved by the electorate of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />R98- Accepting.
