RESOLUTION NO. 99-1 �Qj _ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF <br />OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 932.7055, F.S. <br />(1978) TO EXPEND $18,268.35 FOR THE PURPOSES AS SET <br />FORTH HEREIN; PROVIDING FOR AN EFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes §932.70554(b) upon the request by the <br />Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be <br />expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />this subsection; and <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes §932.70554(c)(3) specifically, a law <br />enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000 pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture <br />Act with a fiscal year must expend or donate no less than 15% of such proceeds for the support <br />or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse, drug prevention, crime prevention, safe <br />neighborhood or school resource officer programs; <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Expenditure of forfeiture monies. Based on the attached certification, the Chief of <br />Police is hereby authorized to spend $ 18,268.35 from the last fiscal year of state forfeiture <br />monies to be utilized in the following manner: <br />A. $10,000.00 to the Crime Prevention Program for the purchase of T-shirts, <br />hats, brochures and other awareness items for the public. <br />B. $3,500.00 for the purchase of a display board to utilize during training <br />meetings of the City and Police Department. <br />C. $4,768.35 for boating equipment i.e., lights, sirens, etc. to increase <br />visibility of our police boats. <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
