<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 2? L <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE <br />FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO RETAIN A LIMITED <br />FORMAL AUTO EMISSIONS TESTING PROGRAM IN AN <br />ONGOING COMMITMENT TO BETTER AIR QUALITY; <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there has been a suggestion that Florida's auto emission testing program be <br />eliminated or drastically reduced; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the residents and citizens of the State of Florida desire and deserve <br />continued efforts to protect our environment and further better the quality of the air we breathe. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The Mayor and City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby urge the <br />Florida Legislature to retain a limited formal auto emissions testing program for all <br />buses, and for all other vehicles (trucks, automobiles) with a model year ten years old <br />or older, in order to protect our environment and enhance the quality of life for our <br />citizenry. <br /> <br />2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to disseminate this policy resolution to the <br />Governor, the Miami-Dade Delegation, and the Florida League of Cities. <br /> <br />3.
