RESOLUTION NO. 2000- 'l.~' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS NOT TO EXCEED $300,000 FOR INTERIM LANDSCAPING OF COLLINS AVENUE MEDIANS PENDING ADOPTION AND EXECUTION OF THE STREETSCAPE MASTER PLAN; PROVIDING DISCRETION TO THE CITY MANAGER AS TO SELECTION AND MAINTENANCE OF PLANTS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has embarked on an ambitious project to beautify Collins Avenue (State Road AlA) and the surrounding areas, including the development of a comprehensive streetscape plan which will take several months; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that the medians located on Collins Avenue are in immediate need of landscaping improvements; and WHEREAS, the City Manager requests permission to use funds not exceeding $300,000 for interim landscaping of Collins Avenue medians and related purposes; and WHEREAS, the landscaping ofthe medians along Collins Avenue would be aesthetically pleasing to residents and tourists alike, and consistent with the streetscape master plan. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to expend funds not to exceed Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000) for the interim landscaping of Collins Avenue medians and select plants for same, pending adoption and execution of the streetscape master plan.
