<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- ~ 3 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />EXECUTE RESOLUTION NUMBER 2000-003 OF THE COUNCIL OF <br />COASTAL MAYORS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, <br />REQUESTING THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MAYOR AND <br />COMMISSION TO INITIATE AND IMPLEMENT A PILOT PROJECT <br />FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF MOORING BUOYS TO <br />PROTECT AND PRESERVE LIVING CORAL REEFS ALONG THE <br />COASTLINE OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS MORE <br />SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH IN THE ATTACHED EXHIBIT "A"; <br />PROVIDNG FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />recognizes the importance of the preservation of the living coral reefs along the coastline for the <br />benefit of the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of Coastal Mayors are pursuing legislation to preserve Miami- <br />Dade County's living coral reefs as a natural barrier against beach erosion and to serve as a <br />natural habitat for fish and lobster hatcheries and hence, for the continued recreational benefits of <br />our residents and tourists as more specifically set forth in Resolution 2000-003; attached hereto <br />as Exhibit "A" and have requested the support of our City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to endorse the activities of the <br />Council of Coastal Mayors in preserving our coastline; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute Resolution 2000-003 <br />of the Council of Coastal Mayors attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />2. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of June, 20 . <br /> <br />.
