RESOLUTION NO. 2000- ~ 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE RESOLUTION NUMBER 2000-003 OF THE COUNCIL OF COASTAL MAYORS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MAYOR AND COMMISSION TO INITIATE AND IMPLEMENT A PILOT PROJECT FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF MOORING BUOYS TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE LIVING CORAL REEFS ALONG THE COASTLINE OF DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AS MORE SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH IN THE ATTACHED EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDNG FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach recognizes the importance of the preservation of the living coral reefs along the coastline for the benefit of the community; and WHEREAS, the Council of Coastal Mayors are pursuing legislation to preserve Miami- Dade County's living coral reefs as a natural barrier against beach erosion and to serve as a natural habitat for fish and lobster hatcheries and hence, for the continued recreational benefits of our residents and tourists as more specifically set forth in Resolution 2000-003; attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and have requested the support of our City; and WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to endorse the activities of the Council of Coastal Mayors in preserving our coastline; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: 1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute Resolution 2000-003 of the Council of Coastal Mayors attached hereto as Exhibit "A". 2.
