RESOLUTION NO.2000-_2Lq <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING <br />A CHANGE ORDER, ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT <br />"A", IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $20,000, FOR THE <br />INSTALLATION OF ADDITIONAL GROUNDCOVER, <br />UPGRADING OF GRASS FOR OPEN SPACES AT THE <br />PASSIVE PARK, IN CONNECTION WITH THE EXISTING <br />AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH AND TROPIC LANDSCAPING & LAWN <br />MAINTENANCE, INC., PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the City Administration has made a concerted effort to redesign the Passive <br />Park, taking into account every possible environmental, physical, and fiscal constraint; and <br />WHEREAS, via Resolution No. 2000-234, adopted May 30, 2000, the City Commission <br />authorized the expenditure of approximately $140,000 for the present improvements at the <br />Passive Park, including but not limited to internal drainage, raised elevations, and significantly <br />improved landscaping; and <br />WHEREAS, in an attempt to develop an optimally functional park, the landscaping <br />contractor and City environmental and recreation staff have, along with other various <br />improvements, selected an upgraded grass that will not only withstand the rigors of the barrier <br />island system, but will offer the best possible resistance to heavy foot traffic; and <br />WHEREAS, including these upgrades and additions, the Passive Park Project is <br />approximately $60,000 under budget. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Approval of Change Order. A change order, attached hereto as Exhibit "A," in an <br />amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00) to the existing contract by and <br />between the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Tropic Landscaping & Lawn Maintenance, Inc., be, <br />and the same, is hereby approved. <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />negotiate said change order as outline in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and do all things necessary <br />to effectuate the agreement. <br />Section 3. Effective Date.
