<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- Z "\ ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ENCOURAGING <br />THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND THE COUNTY OF MIAMI- <br />DADE TO EXAMINE AND CORRECT THE VARIOUS <br />TRAFFIC PROBLEMS THAT PLAGUE COLLINS AVENUE, <br />WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY AND TO <br />TAKE ALL REMEDIAL ACTION WITH RESPECT TO <br />CORRECTING THESE PROBLEMS; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a Resident was injured on Collins A venue due to his inability to cross the street <br />within the allotted time period provided by pedestrian crosswalk lights; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this situation has been reviewed by the City Commission, City Manager, <br />Resident and the Traffic Division of the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Traffic Division conducted a pedestrian crosswalk light and time study, <br />which revealed that the pedestrian crosswalk lights do not provide pedestrians sufficient time to <br />cross the street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the members of the City Commission, City Manager and Resident have met <br />with officials from the Florida Department of Transportation and Miami Dade County Public Works <br />Division, which maintains the signals on Collins A venue, to discuss possible improvements to the <br />situation. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach encourages the State of <br />Florida and County of Miami-Dade to examine and correct the various traffic problems that plague <br />Collins Avenue within the corporate limits of the City of Sunny Isles Beach including, but not <br />limited to, problems with crosswalk times, location of crosswalks, and speed limit signage and <br />markings throughout the City, and to take all remedial action with respect to correcting these <br />problems. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 15th day of November, <br /> <br />Traffic Light & Crosswalk Problems - Res <br />
