Maas,Chief of Police <br /> <br />January 29,2001 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ALLOWING THE POLICE CHIEF TO <br />APPROPRIATE AND SPEND $5,000.00 FROM THE LAW <br />ENFORCMENT TRUST FUND TO PAY LEGAL COSTS <br />ASSOCIATED WITH ASSET FORFEITURE PROCESS. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDA nON: <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission approve a Resolution <br />authorizing the Chief of Police to appropriate and spend $5,000.00 <br />from The Law Enforcement Trust Fund to pay for Legal Costs <br />Associated with the Asset Forfeiture Process. <br /> <br />REASON: <br /> <br />In accordance with Florida Statutes #932-7055(4) a law <br />enforcement agency is authorized to use forfeiture funds for school <br />resource officer, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, drug abuse <br />education and prevention programs, or for other law enforcement <br />purposes, which include defraying the cost of protracted or <br />complex investigations, providing additional equipment or <br />expertise and providing matching funds to obtain federal grants. <br />Based on the attached. <br /> <br />I certify that the above expenditures meet the criteria set forth in <br />Florida State Statute 932.7055. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br />0J2{l~ <br /> <br />Fred A.
