<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 3L.}~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE RESOLUTION <br />NUMBER 2001-002 OF THE COUNCIL OF COASTAL MAYORS OF MIAMI-DADE <br />COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MAYOR AND <br />COMMISSION TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL <br />RESOURCES MANAGEMENT TO EXPEDITIOUSLY IMPLEMENT THE <br />INNOVATIVE EROSION CONTROL AND SAND RECYCLING SYSTEM <br />DEMONSTRATION PROJECT DEVELOPED FOR THE CRITICALLY ERODED <br />BEACHES ALONG THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, THE TOWN OF SURFSIDE AND <br />THE VILLAGE OF BAL HARBOUR, AS MORE SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH IN THE <br />ATTACHED EXHIBIT "A"; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach recognizes the great <br />importance of preserving Miami-Dade County's beaches as a valuable natural and economic <br />resource contributing to public safety and quality of life for our communities, while providing <br />aesthetic, environmental, hurricane mitigation and recreational benefits for our residents and <br />tourists; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of Coastal Mayors seek to preserve MiamiDade County's <br />beaches against beach erosion, and are formally requesting that the Department of Environmental <br />Resources Management expeditiously implement the innovative erosion control and sand <br />recycling system demonstration project developed for Miami-Dade County's critically eroded <br />beaches, as set forth in Resolution Number 2001-002; attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to endorse these activities and goals <br />of the Council of Coastal Mayors in preserving our County beaches. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1.
