<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002- .::\50 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING CONCEPTUAL <br />APPROVAL OF A PROGRAM FOR THE CITY COMMISSION TO <br />CONSIDER ACCEPTING FUTURE DONATIONS OF SPECIFIC <br />ARCHITECTURAL ARTIFACTS FOR PUBLIC DISPLAY; PROVIDING <br />THAT THE CITY COMMISSION SHALL RECOMMEND <br />PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES FOR HA VING A COMMITTEE TO <br />REVIEW AND RECOMMEND ACCEPTANCE OF ANY SPECIFIC <br />ARCHITECTURAL ARTIFACTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, several older buildings and architectural artifacts are being removed or <br />demolished in the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, some developers have offered to donate architectural artifacts to the City, <br />on the condition that the City would pay any associated costs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Civic, Cultural and Beautification Trust, a privately held not-for-profit <br />corporation that was formed in Sunny Isles Beach, has offered to assume the cost of removal, <br />storage, restoration and or repair of such artifacts as the City Commission may specifically deem <br />appropriate for public display within the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Civic, Cultural and Beautification Trust, has requested clarification <br />from the City regarding its interest in accepting their offer to donate such artifacts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commissions believes there is a value in retaining and displaying <br />select archival and architectural artifacts that might serve as reminders of this community's past <br />for the future enjoyment of residents and visitors; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach approves the concept <br />of saving selected artifacts of architectural interest for future public display; and <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. Approval In Concept: <br /> <br />The City Commission hereby approves in concept, the preserving of selected artifacts of <br />architectural interest for future public display, provided that the Civic, Cultural and <br />Beautification Trust assumes the cost of removal, storage, restoration and/or repair, relocation of <br />such artifacts, as the City Commission may specifically deem appropriate for public display <br />within the City of Sunny Isles Beach, and, further, provides them at no cost to the City. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />R2002- Approval in Concept of Receiving Architectural Artifacts <br />
