<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002-~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS <br />DESIGNEE, TO SIGN ALL REQUIRED CONTRACTS, AGREEMENTS, <br />AND PURCHASE ORDERS THAT AFFECT THE HEALTH, SAFETY, OR <br />WELFARE OF THE CITY, AND TO TEMPORARILY RENEW EXISTING <br />CONTRACTS WHICH MAY EXPIRE, FOR FORTY-FIVE (45) DAYS, FROM <br />THE LAST COMMISSION MEETING IN JULY 2002, UNTIL THE FIRST <br />REGULAR CITY COMMISSION MEETING IN SEYfEMBER 2002, <br />SUBJECT TO AFTER-THE-FACT RATIFICATION BY THE CITY <br />COMMISSION AT ITS FIRST REGULAR MEETING ON SEYfEMBER 19, <br />2002; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission are not scheduled to meet between July <br />18,2002 and the next regular meeting on September 19,2002; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Commission wish to assign certain powers to the City <br />Manager or his Designee, to sign all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that <br />affect the health, safety or welfare of the City, subject to after-the-fact ratification by the City <br />Commission; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there may be existing contracts which may expire and require renewal <br />during the time between the last Commission meeting in July 2002 and the first regular meeting <br />in September 2002 which should receive Commission approval for renewal or for extension <br />period of time; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager will report back to the City Commission, at the first <br />regular City Commission meeting on September 19, 2002, seeking after-the-fact ratification of <br />any actions relating to the afore stated authorizations. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: <br /> <br />Section 1. <br /> <br />The City Manager, or his Designee, is hereby authorized to sign all required <br />contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that affect the health, safety, or <br />welfare of the City, and to temporarily renew any existing contracts for forty-five <br />(45) days that may be required to be renewed, from the last City Commission <br />meeting on July 18, 2002, until the next regular City Commission meeting on <br />September 19, 2002, subject to ratification by the City Commission at its first <br />regular meeting on September 19,2002. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of July, 2002. <br /> <br />R2002- Contract Authorization During Summer Recess <br /> <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
