<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2002- ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUESTING <br />CO-DESIGNA TION FOR ATLANTIC A VENUNE WITHIN <br />THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, TO "ATLANTIC <br />A VENUE/A TLANTIC ISLES"; FURTHER REQUESTING <br />MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO INSTALL TWO (2) <br />OVERHEAD TRAFFIC SIGNS DEPICTING THIS DUAL <br />DESIGNATION ON THE NORTH AND SOUTHBOUND <br />TRAFFIC LIGHTS AT COLLINS AVENUE AND <br />ATLANTIC AVENUE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO EXPEND FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR THE COST OF <br />INSTALLATION OF SAID SIGNS AND TO DO ALL <br />OTHER THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE <br />INTENT OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, street signs labeling Atlantic A venue with the dual designation of Atlantic <br />A venue/Atlantic Isles were prominently displayed on the traffic lights located at Collins A venue <br />and Atlantic A venue for an extended period of time; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County removed that signage as the plat for that area solely <br />names the street "Atlantic Avenue;" and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, area residents have grown accustomed to that dual designation, utilizing it <br />in speech and written correspondence; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff contacted Miami-Dade County in reference to having those signs <br />reinstalled and was advised that a City resolution requesting co-designation and a payment of <br />Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) to cover the cost of installation were required, in order to <br />comply with our request; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of Street Renaming. The City of Sunny Isles Beach formally approves <br />and requests the approval of Miami-Dade County to co-designate Atlantic Avenue within the <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach as "Atlantic Avenue/Atlantic Isles." <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to <br />expend funds in the amount of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) to cover the cost of installation <br />of two (2) traffic light street signs and to do all other things necessary to effectuate the intent of <br />this resolution. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />Street Renaming - Atlantic Isles <br />
