<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
<br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
<br />MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE, AND EXPEND FUNDS
<br />FROM A BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, LOCAL LAW
<br />ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF TWENTY-
<br />THREE THOUSAND, EIGHT HUNDRED THIRTY -EIGHT DOLLARS
<br />($23,838.00), WITH THE CITY PROVIDING MATCHING FUNDS IN
<br />AN AMOUNT OF TWO THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED FORTY-NINE
<br />DOLLARS ($2,649.00), REPRESENTING THE REQUIRED 10%
<br />MA TCH, FOR THE PURCHASE OF A DRIVE-ON DOCKING
<br />SYSTEM AND ACCESSORIES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
<br />MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, RECEIVE, AND EXPEND FUNDS, AS
<br />APPROPRIATE, WITHOUT FURTHER APPROVAL OF THIS
<br />COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has an active and growing policing unit that
<br />is seeking to protect the health, safety and welfare of its residents; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Local Law Enforcement Block Grant
<br />Program, has a grant in the amount of $23,838.00 available along with matching City funds of
<br />$2,649,00, for the purchase of a drive-on docking system and accessories, and has invited the
<br />City to apply for the funding; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, using funds provided from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Local Law
<br />Enforcement Block Grant Program, for the purchase of a drive-on docking system and
<br />accessories, would preserve the life and limit the upkeep of the agency's marine patrol vessels,
<br />allowing the vessels to be kept out of the water while being docked, reducing the wear and tear
<br />on the vessels, and allowing for portability of the boat and dock based on critical incident needs.

<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
<br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br />Section 1. Authority to Apply For. Receive, and Expend Funds from a Grant. The City
<br />Manager is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend funds from the Bureau of Justice
<br />Assistance, Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Program, in the Amount of Twenty-Three
<br />Thousand, Eight Hundred Thirty-Eight Dollars ($23,838.00), with matching funds from the City
<br />in an amount of Two Thousand, Six Hundred Forty-Nine Dollars ($2,649.00), for the purchase
<br />of a drive-on docking system and accessories.

<br />Section 2.
<br />
<br />Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
<br />
<br />PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of July, 2002.
