<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003- S7'A. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br />APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A MIAMI-DADE COUNTY METROPOLITAN <br />PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO) GRANT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, <br />IN AN AMOUNT OF FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00), WITH <br />TWENTY PERCENT (20% ) MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE CITY FORA <br />TRANSPORTATION STUDY FOR 172ND STREET - 174TH STREET IN <br />ORDER TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY AND NEED FOR A <br />PEDESTRIANIBICYCLE BRIDGE; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTION NECESSARY WITH <br />RESPECT TO THE OBTAINING AND DISTRIBUTION OF GRANT <br />MONIES, AS APPROPRIATE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County's Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) provides <br />grants to governmental entities for transportation studies through the Unified Planning Work <br />Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City's Comprehensive Plan sets forth specific transportation goals for the <br />City to improve the safety and efficiency of roadway systems through transportation system <br />management techniques; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to prepare a transportation study for 172nd Street - 174th Street <br />in order to determine the feasibility and need for a pedestrianlbicyc1e bridge; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, obtainment of a MPO grant would assist the City in offsetting the cost of the <br />study by an amount of up to 80%, and require a 20% match from the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of applying for grant money in the <br />amount of $50,000.00, with a 20% match from the City, for a transportation study. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authority to Apply For and Accept Grant. The City Manager is authorized to apply <br />for and accept an MPO grant, in an amount of $50,000.00, with 20% matching funds from the City, <br />for a transportation study for 172nd Street - 174th Street in order to determine the feasibility and need <br />for a pedestrianlbicyc1e bridge. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager.
