RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -5B"l A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2003-521; PROVIDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL FIVE (5) MONTH EXTENSION OF THE AMNESTY PERIOD ESTABLISHED UNDER RESOLUTION NO. 2003- 521; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is a major tourist destination in Florida; and WHEREAS, tourist based businesses located in the city have suffered tremendous financial hardships since the tragic events of September 11th; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to assist local businesses in their effort to stimulate the local economy with an opportunity to maximize advertisement opportunities; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Extension of Amnesty Period. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, the City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby declares a special period for the temporary waiver of enforcement of Section 901.5(9) of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Land Development Regulations for all businesses within the City. Specifically, the City will permit temporary banner signs for a period not to exceed six-months to be known as the "Amnesty Period", subject to review and approval as set forth in Section 2. The City Commission hereby extends the amnesty period established under Resolution No. 2003-521 to December 31, 2003. All other sections of the City Code of Ordinances as adopted shall remain in full force and effect. Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution becomes effective upon adoption but shall allow retroactive application in accordance with the terms of this Resolution. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28th day of Aug st, 003.
