<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003 -5B"l <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY <br />ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 2003-521; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN ADDITIONAL FIVE (5) MONTH EXTENSION OF <br />THE AMNESTY PERIOD ESTABLISHED UNDER RESOLUTION NO. 2003- <br />521; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is a major tourist destination in Florida; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, tourist based businesses located in the city have suffered tremendous <br />financial hardships since the tragic events of September 11th; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to assist local businesses in their effort to <br />stimulate the local economy with an opportunity to maximize advertisement opportunities; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Extension of Amnesty Period. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, the City <br />of Sunny Isles Beach hereby declares a special period for the temporary waiver of enforcement <br />of Section 901.5(9) of the City of Sunny Isles Beach Land Development Regulations for all <br />businesses within the City. Specifically, the City will permit temporary banner signs for a period <br />not to exceed six-months to be known as the "Amnesty Period", subject to review and approval <br />as set forth in Section 2. The City Commission hereby extends the amnesty period established <br />under Resolution No. 2003-521 to December 31, 2003. All other sections of the City Code of <br />Ordinances as adopted shall remain in full force and effect. <br /> <br />Section 2. Effective Date.
