<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004- t, 50 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING THE <br />MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY <br />TO ELIMINATE THE BUS STOP AT GALAHAD-DADE <br />BOULEVARD THAT SERVICES THE "S" BUS AND THE "E" <br />BUS, TO ELIMINATE A DANGEROUS U- TURN <br />CONFIGURA TION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE <br />TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach desires to keep the City streets safe for its <br />citizens and visitors alike; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is seeking the elimination of the bus stop at Galahad-Dade Boulevard <br />at the vicinity of Ocean One in order to discontinue the dangerous V-turns made by County buses; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County conducted a field survey to ascertain the feasibility of <br />eliminating this bus stop and found that two bus routes (the "s" and "E") make V-turns at this <br />location, and by eliminating this bus stop, we will have eliminated a dangerous V-turn configuration; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, since there is substantial ridership at this bus stop, the City will expand its <br />shuttle bus route to encompass a stopover at Biscayne Boulevard and the A ventura Mallon a regular <br />daily basis in order to eliminate the dangerous V-turn; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is hereby urging the Miami-Dade County <br />Transportation Authority to eliminate the bus stop at Galahad-Dade Boulevard. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to forward <br />this Resolution to the Miami-Dade County Transportation Authority urging the elimination of the <br />bus stop at Galahad-Dade Boulevard. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
