<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004- ~ "3 q <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING <br />THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE <br />COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT OF 1984 TO <br />EXPEND $50,000.00 FROM THE FEDERAL FORFEITURE <br />FUND FOR THE PURPOSES AS SET FORTH HEREIN; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the city and <br />its police department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established federal forfeiture <br />account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to enhance law enforcement purposes. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, upon the <br />request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, federally forfeited funds may <br />be expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of $50,000.00 in <br />federally forfeited funds in compliance with the aforementioned; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of federally forfeited monies. Based on the attached certification, the <br />Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend $ 50,000.00 from the established federal forfeiture <br />account for the costs associated with the building of a secure and stable law enforcement computer <br />network and to prepare for the purchase of an enhanced law enforcement software package that will <br />enable the law enforcement officers to access and securely share criminal intelligence and <br />administrative data among law enforcement agencies, officers and employees. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
