<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004- t-tq ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE <br />RECOMMENDATION OF THE MERCER GROUP FOR A NEW POLICE <br />STEP PAY PLAN; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 2004 the City hired the Mercer Group to conduct a salary market survey <br />for benchmark positions and to update the City's overall compensation plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a key portion of the market survey concentrated on the Police Pay Step <br />Plan, specifically for the positions of police officer and police sergeant; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mercer Group has submitted a new 8-step plan for those positions that <br />is more competitive than our current 10-step plan; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to continue to be competitive with comparable local <br />governments, in order to keep and attract qualified officers. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Acceptance of Police Step Pay Plan. The City Commission hereby accepts the <br />Police Step Pay Plan as recommended and prepared by the Mercer Group, attached hereto as <br />Exhibit "A." <br /> <br />Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
