Replace with plant of same species, size, and <br />specification at no cost to Owner. <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />Container-Grown Plants: <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />Can/Container Removal: <br />a. Cut cans on two sides with an acceptable can cutter. <br />b. Do not injure planting ball. <br />c. Do not cut cans with spade or ax. <br />d. Do not cut sides on knockout cans. <br />e. Carefully remove plants without injury or. damage to planting ball. <br />f. After removing plant. Superficially cut edge roots with knife on three <br />sides. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />Dig planting holes to size as shown. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Hand place plants which are in containers less than one gallon in size. <br /> <br />4. Hand backfill and hand tamp leaving slight depression around bases of plants. <br /> <br />5. <br /> <br />Do not cover top of root ball. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Water for settlement and replace required planting soil. <br /> <br />3 .05 FERTILIZER APPLICATIONS <br /> <br />06/05 <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Apply granular fertilizer at time of planting and repeat 3 months from first application. <br />Schedule fertilization with Landscape Architect. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Apply granular fertilizer at following rates, to planting bed and saucer areas around each <br />tree, palm and shrub: <br /> <br />I. Trees: <br />a. <br /> <br />Caliper 4 inches and larger: <br />5 Ibs. per in. of Caliper <br />Caliper under 4 inches: <br />3 lbs. per in. of Caliper <br />Shrubs: 2 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. of area. <br />Ground Cover Plants: 2 lbs. per 100 sq. ft. of area. <br />Palms: I lb. per in. of palm trunk Caliper. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />c. <br />d. <br /> <br />e. <br /> <br />C. Broadcast under foliage canopy and incorporate into soil. <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />Water immediately until root structure of plant is wet. Assure protection from fertilizer <br />burn. <br /> <br />E. <br /> <br />Apply foliar nutrient spray at time of planting (summer excluded) and repeat three <br />months from first application. Schedule fertilization with Landscape Architect. Drench <br /> <br />02490-10 <br /> <br />03-4138.8 <br />
