RESOLUTION NO. 2005-...835 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (NIMS) AS REQUIRED BY THE HOMELAND SECURITY PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE - 5; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 5 (HSPD-5) signed on February 28, 2003 established the National Incident Management System (NIMS); and WHEREAS, the NIMS established a single, comprehensive approach to disaster incident management to ensure that all levels of government across the nation have the capability to work efficiently and effectively together using a national approach to disaster incident management; and WHEREAS, the NIMS provides a consistent, nationwide approach for federal, state and local government to work together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster incidents regardless of cause, size or complexity; and WHEREAS, the NIMS provides for interoperability and compatibility between federal, state and local capabilities and includes a core set of concepts, principles, terminology and technologies; and WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to adopt the NIMS as required by the Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 5. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. Adopt the National Incident Management System. The City of Sunny Isles Beach hereby adopts the National Incident Management System (NIMS) as its system for preparing for and responding to disaster incidents. Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. R2005- NIMS
