<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-...835 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ADOPTING <br />THE NATIONAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM <br />(NIMS) AS REQUIRED BY THE HOMELAND SECURITY <br />PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE - 5; PROVIDING THE CITY <br />MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS <br />NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 5 (HSPD-5) signed on February 28, <br />2003 established the National Incident Management System (NIMS); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the NIMS established a single, comprehensive approach to disaster incident <br />management to ensure that all levels of government across the nation have the capability to work <br />efficiently and effectively together using a national approach to disaster incident management; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the NIMS provides a consistent, nationwide approach for federal, state and <br />local government to work together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disaster incidents <br />regardless of cause, size or complexity; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the NIMS provides for interoperability and compatibility between federal, state <br />and local capabilities and includes a core set of concepts, principles, terminology and technologies; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to adopt the NIMS as required by the <br />Homeland Security Presidential Directive - 5. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section I. Adopt the National Incident Management System. The City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />hereby adopts the National Incident Management System (NIMS) as its system for preparing for and <br />responding to disaster incidents. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> <br />R2005- NIMS <br />
