<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005- elite, <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, <br />APPOINTING CHIEF FRED MAAS AS "INTERIM <br />CITY MANAGER" PENDING THE APPOINTMENT <br />OF A PERMANENT CITY MANAGER BY THE <br />COMMISSION; PROVIDING THE MAYOR AND <br />CITY ATTORNEY WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO <br />ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE <br />TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, our present City Manager, Christopher J. Russo, has submitted his <br />letter of resignation and will be departing on Monday, October 31, 2005; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, via Resolution 2005-838 the City Commission has constituted a <br />blue-ribbon committee to recommend candidates for the position of City Manager; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission has hired the search firm of Collin Baenziger <br />and Associates ("Consultant") to assist in this process; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the consultant anticipates the selection of a new City Manager will <br />not occur until December 2005; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City is in need of an Interim City Manager from October 20, <br />2005 until such time as a permanent City Manager is appointed. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION <br />OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Appointment of Interim City Manager. The City Commission hereby <br />appoints Chief Fred Mass as "Interim City Manager" as of October 20, 2005 with a salary <br />increase of ten percent (10%) from his base salary. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of Mayor and City Attorney. The Mayor and City Attorney <br />is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Agreement. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
