<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2005-~7 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF THIRTY-ONE <br />(31) COCONUT PALM TREES, THREE (3) MEDJOOL <br />DATE PALM TREES, AND TWENTY-FIVE HUNDRED <br />(2,500) GALLONS OF FUEL FROM ACQUALINA; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS <br />RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Williams Island, the owners of Acqualina, has graciously offered to donate <br />thirty-one (31) Coconut Palms and three (3) Medjool Date Palms to the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, these Palm trees have been placed in the City's vacant lot in Golden Shores <br />at 191 st Terrace, pending City Commission approval of their acceptance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, our Landscape Architect, Bill O'Leary, has surveyed the thirty-one (31) <br />Coconut Palms and three (3) Medjool Date Palms and deemed them physically usable; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, acceptance of these trees will enable the City to create a small tree farm to <br />be used when and where needed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, immediately following the impact of Hurricane Wilma, gasoline was <br />extremely hard to acquire due to the loss of electricity at many gas stations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Acqualina development has graciously donated twenty-five hundred <br />(2,500) gallons of fuel to the City during this turbulent time, with a proviso that Acqualina <br />employees be allowed to fill their cars, too; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this fuel was housed at the National/Alamo Car Rental agency next to the <br />Sunny Isles Beach Government Center, in order to be used by City vehicles and employees of <br />the Acqualina development. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Accepting Donations. The City Commission hereby accepts a donation of Thirty- <br />One (31) Coconut Palm Trees, three (3) Medjool Date Palms, and twenty-five hundred (2,500) <br />gallons of fuel from Acqualina. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authoritv of City Manager.
