Cultural & Human Services Directo Date: December 8, 2005 Re: Conceptual Approval of Public Facilities Building for Town Center Park RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving in concept a public facilities building at the Town Center Park, located at 17200 Collins Avenue. REASONS The Town Center Park was turned over to the City on Friday, October 21, 2005. As such, the park is the City's responsibility. Park patrons have approached Elected Officials and City staff to request the installation of restroom facilities in the park. Staff envisions the building of a multi-purpose structure that can serve as a public restroom and a storage facility for park maintenance equipment. Therefore, staff is seeking Commission approval to research the feasibility of designing and building such a facility at Town Center Park. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This improvement will enhance the experience of park patrons and allow for much needed maintenance space. It is anticipated that the individual contracts for design, purchase and installation of the public facilities building will be over Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). Therefore, the actual contracts will be brought before the City Commission for approval, in accordance with our purchasing procedures, at a future meeting.
