<br />Figures for 2002 indicate 10,231,400 overnight visitors came to Miami-Dade County, a 2.6%
<br />decrease from 200 I. The events of September 11,200 I have had a negative effect on tourism which
<br />is expected to continue through 2003.

<br />Table 4 shows that the bulk of international visitors to Miami-Dade County originate from Central
<br />and South American Countries (50.1 %), followed by European Countries (23.04%) and Caribbean
<br />Countries (13.2%). England and Germany accounted for the largest proportion of European visitors.
<br />
<br />In 2002 there were a total of 3,642,990 passengers passing through the Port of Miami and
<br />approximately 30,060,241 through Miami International Airport. During 2002, the number of Port
<br />of Miami passengers increased 7.4% from 200 I, and Miami International Airport decreased 5.1 %
<br />from 2001.
