Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> <br />May 18, 2006 <br /> <br />Approval to Purchase Servers, Workstations, and other Related Hardware and <br />Software from Dell <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution approving the purchase of <br />servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell for the Sunny Isles Beach <br />Police Department ("Department"). <br /> <br />REASONS <br /> <br />The Department has been working hard to upgrade and automate its processes and equipment. <br />Specifically, the Department is seeking to implement a new state-of-the-art computer aided dispatch <br />and records management system ("system"). As such, the Department would like to purchase new <br />computer servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software, in order to realize the <br />maximum benefits of the new System. <br /> <br />Staff has requested a quote from Dell, a leader in the computer industry, for said computer servers, <br />workstations, and other related hardware and software. Dell has provided a quote under the State of <br />Florida IT Hardware Contract #250-000-03- I for the purchase of the computer servers, workstations, <br />and other related hardware and software, in a total amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Four <br />Hundred Eight-Nine Dollars and Forty-Six Cents ($20,489.46), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br /> <br />The implementation of the new automated system, coupled with the new servers, workstations, and <br />other related hardware and software, will help to serve the needs of the community more effectively. <br />Funds are available at this time for this purchase, and staff recommends purchase of said computer <br />servers, workstations, and other related hardware and software from Dell. <br /> <br />MG/pw <br /> <br />Agenda Item <br /> <br />051806 Dell Computer Purchase Agenda Memo <br /> <br />Date <br />
