<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006- ~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING <br />THE NAMING OF THE BEACH ACCESS LOCATED AT <br />178TH STREET AND COLLINS AVENUE THE "WALTER <br />BRESSLOUR BEACH ACCESS" IN HONOR AND <br />APPRECIATION OF HIS DEDICATION TO THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH; DIRECTING THE CITY <br />MANAGER AND/OR HIS/HER DESIGNEE TO PLACE <br />SIGNAGE COMMENSURATE WITH THIS DISTINCTION <br />AT SAID BEACH ACCESS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Walter Bresslour was a resident of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, until his <br />passing in May 2006; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Walter Bresslour was a community activist who had a passion for helping <br />others and was instrumental in acquiring public access to the local beach; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is a better place in which to live, work, and <br />play, partly due to the efforts of Walter Bresslour; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to honor Walter Bresslour for his work and <br />efforts for the betterment of the City of Sunny Isles Beach by dedicating the beach access located <br />at 178th Street and Collins A venue to his memory; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, henceforth the beach access located at 178th Street and Collins A venue <br />shall be named and known as the "Walter Bresslour Beach Access," with signage commensurate <br />with this distinction to be displayed at that location. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Naming of Beach Access. The City Commission hereby designates the beach <br />access located at 178th Street and Collins A venue the "Walter Bresslour Beach Access," in honor <br />and appreciation of Walter Bresslour's dedication to the City of SUlmy Isles Beach. <br /> <br />Section 2. Directive to City Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the City <br />Manager and/or his/her designee to place signage commensurate with this distinction at said <br />beach access. <br /> <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager.
