<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006- q5~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING <br />THE EXPENDITURE OF FIVE THOUSAND FOUR <br />HUNDRED TWENTY-NINE DOLLARS AND NINETY-EIGHT <br />CENTS ($5,429.98) TOWARD THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY <br />METROPOLITAN PLANNING ORGANIZATION (MPO) <br />GRANT FOR THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY NORTHEAST <br />TRAFFIC CORRIDOR STUDY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, mayors and representatives from numerous cities, towns and villages in Miami- <br />Dade County, as well as County transportation officials, have joined together to form a joint task <br />force to address regional transportation issues; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, several workshops held by the Northeast Miami Dade Mayors' Joint Task <br />Force on Transportation ("Task Force") produced proposed solutions and areas needing further <br />discussion regarding many mutual problems and concerns; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach, in conjunction with the Task Force, strongly <br />supported the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) funding for the <br />South Florida East Coast Corridor Transit Analysis, a 24-month study initiated in September 2005 to <br />analyze the feasibility of rapid transit along the Florida East Coast Railroad corridor from Jupiter to <br />Downtown Miami; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, MPO granted an award of$67,200.00 toward the Study, and the remaining cost <br />of ($54,828.00) has to be shared by the cities in the Joint Task Force, with a level of contribution <br />based upon population, in which the City of Sunny Isles Beach's share is Five Thousand Four <br />Hundred Twenty-Nine Dollars and Ninety-Eight Cents ($5,429.98). <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of Expenditure. The expenditure of Five Thousand Four Hundred Twenty- <br />Nine Dollars and Ninety-Eight Cents ($5,429.98) toward the Miami-Dade County Metropolitan <br />Planning Organization (MPO) Grant for the Miami-Dade County NOliheast Traffic Corridor Study is <br />hereby approved. <br /> <br />Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 3. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
