<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-~ <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO CONTINUE TO <br />PARTICIPATE IN THE "SECOND TUESDAY AT <br />BISCAYNE BAY CAMPUS" PROGRAM, AND <br />AUTHORIZING A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO <br />THE BISCAYNE BAY SOCIETY OF FLORIDA <br />INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (FlU), IN THE AMOUNT <br />OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00); <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL <br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF <br />THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed in participating and informing <br />its residents of cultural events and activities taking place in and around the community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on July 17,2003, the City entered into a partnership with the Biscayne Bay <br />Society of Florida International University ("FlU") via Resolution No. 2003-577 to co-partner in <br />the FlU Biscayne Bay Project to keep its citizens apprised of any programs that may interest <br />them, including the "Second Tuesday at Biscayne Bay Campus"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, lots of Sunny Isles Beach residents have participated in the various <br />programs and activities offered by the FlU Biscayne Bay Project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, many of these residents have expressed their desire that the City continue to <br />offer this cultural services program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the program was so well-received, the City renewed it partnership with FlU <br />Biscayne Bay Project in September 2004 and 2005 via the adoption of Resolution Nos. 2004-173 <br />and 2005-834, respectively; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to again continue said partnership as it is mutually <br />beneficial to our residents and visitors, and it has been incorporated into the City's existing <br />Cultural Events Program, and to donate $5,000.00 to Biscayne Bay Society of FlU for the FlU <br />Biscayne Bay Campus project. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Approval of Participation. The City Commission hereby authorizes continued <br />participation in the "Second Tuesdays at Biscayne Bay Campus" program, which includes, but is <br />not limited to, a charitable contribution in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) to <br />the Biscayne Bay Society of Florida International University (FlU). <br /> <br />R2006- $5,000 Donation To FlU Biscayne Bay Society <br /> <br />Page I of2 <br />
