<br />~ ; <br />,i <br />i <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-.3.:&.::0 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A PROFESSIONAL <br />SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH THE MERCER GROUP, INC., TO <br />CONDUCT A COMPENSA TION/CLASSIFICA TION STUDY AND <br />DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A PERFORMANCE EVALUATION <br />SYSTEM, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED EIGHTEEN THOUSAND <br />SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($18,750.00), ATTACHED <br />HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO <br />EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENT; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER <br />TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF <br />THIS RESOLUTIONjPROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is a fully operational city, providing essential <br />health and welfare services to its residents, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in its mission to provide said services, the staff of Sunny Isles Beach has <br />grown to a level of one hundred plus (100+) full and part time employees; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in May 2004 the City entered into an agreement with The Mercer for a <br />compensation/market survey analysis and related services to review the City's compensation <br />plan for competitiveness, in an effort to continue to retain and attract highly qualified personnel; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City desires to continue to be competitive with regard to salary and <br />classification and to explore the option of implementing a classification style that is more <br />sensitive to internal equity among positions that are more customary for local government; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mercer Group, Inc., a firm with substantial expertise in this field, has <br />conducted similar compensation studies for numerous government agencies similar to include the <br />City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mercer Group has submitted a proposal for a comprehensive <br />compensation/classification study for certain full-time positions, in an amount of Nine Thousand <br />Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($9,750.00), and to develop and implement a performance <br />evaluation system for all full-time employees, in an amount of Nine Thousand Dollars <br />($9,000.00), for a total contract price of Eighteen Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars <br />($18,750.00); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the professional services requested under the aforementioned contract is <br />exempt from the competitive bidding requirements under Ordinance No. 2000-101. <br /> <br />R2006-Mercer Group Camp-Class Plan & Performance Evaluation Page I of2 <br />
