<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006-n", <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE <br />PURCHASE OF TWENTY-ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED <br />(21,800) PLANTS FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI- <br />DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, TO BE PLACED AT THE <br />RETENTION PONDS ON SUNNY ISLES BOULEVARD, IN A <br />TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY-EIGHT <br />THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($38,150.00), <br />ATTACHED HERETO AS COMPOSITE EXHIBIT "A"; <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID <br />AGREEMENTS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO <br />ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF <br />THESE AGREEMENTS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is desirous of maintaining the beauty of the <br />City through enhanced landscaping improvements; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has two (2) retention ponds for water runoff on Surmy Isles <br />Boulevard that are in need of landscaping as Sunny Isles Boulevard is the City's main <br />entranceway; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the retention ponds are located on the east and west side of the FPL <br />substation and can be landscaped with salt and flood tolerant plants; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, has plants available for <br />purchase through its Agriculture System's student projects; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase Twenty-One Thousand Eight Hundred <br />(21,800) fully rooted Lemon Bacopa plants from the School Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the School Board can accommodate the City's purchase request through the <br />agricultural programs of two schools - W. H. Turner Technical High School and South Dade <br />Senior High School; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the School Board has submitted two purchase agreements for the purchase <br />of said plants at $1.75 per plant, for a total amount not to exceed Thirty-Eight Thousand One <br />Hundred Fifty Dollars ($38,150.00), as quoted on the proposals attached hereto as composite <br />Exhibit "A", <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />R2006- Plant Purchase From School Board For Retention AreasPage 1 of2 <br />
