<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
<br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
<br />A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE JEWISH
<br />COMMUNITY SERVICES, IN THE AMOUNT OF FIVE
<br />THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00), TO HELP FUND
<br />VARIOUS, VITAL SOCIAL SERVICES PROGRAMS;
<br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL
<br />THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF
<br />THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
<br />DATE.
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting
<br />various social services programs of interest and benefit to its residents and fellow man; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Jewish Community Services ("JCS") is one the largest social services
<br />agencies in South Florida, serving more than thirty-five thousand people annually; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, JCS programs provide services for the unemployed, homeless, refugees,
<br />frail elders, holocaust survivors, physically and developmentally challenged, families in crisis,
<br />substance abusers, child victims of neglect and abuse, delinquents, the working poor, and the
<br />uninsured/underinsured; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, JCS is committed to serving the community as a whole, regardless of one's
<br />race, religion, ethnicity, or age; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, JCS has two active sites in the City: St. Mary Magdalen and Winston
<br />Towers 300, at which they provide social services; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, JCS receives funding from county grants, the United Way, and the Greater
<br />Miami Jewish Foundation, but is in dire need of additional funding to keep and expand their
<br />valuable programs and services; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, last year the City made a charitable contribution in the amount of Three
<br />Thousand Dollars ($3,000,00) to the JCS; and
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, realizing the rising costs of providing these vital social services, the City
<br />wishes to make a charitable contribution to the Jewish Community Services, in an increased
<br />amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000,00).

<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
<br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
<br />
<br />Section I. Authorization of Donation, The City Commission hereby authorizes a charitable
<br />contribution to the Jewish Community Services, in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars
<br />($5,000,00),
