<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006- I DO'l <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE NAMING <br />OF THE FUTURE OBSERVATION WALK PATH ALONG THE <br />MANGROVE RESERVE WITHIN THE TOWN CENTER PARK <br />LOCATED AT 17200 COLLINS A VENUE THE "HARVEY BAKER <br />GRAVES MANGROVE RESERVE"; DIRECTING THE CITY <br />MANAGER AND/OR HIS/HER DESIGNEE TO PLACE SIGNAGE <br />COMMENSURATE WITH THIS DISTINCTION AT SAID <br />MANGROVE RESERVE AREA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE THE TERMS OF THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the year 1920, Harvey Baker Graves, a private investor from Rochester, <br />New York, purchased a 2.26 square mile tract of land including a three quarter of a mile of <br />adjacent ocean frontage; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Harvey Baker Graves developed that area and called it "Sunny Isles"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, he also purchased an additional winding nine (9) miles of Biscayne Bay, <br />Bella Vista and Dumbfoundling Bay Water Frontage; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, to honor Harvey Baker Graves, this City Commission will establish a <br />commemorative plaque naming the future observation walk path along the mangrove reserve <br />within Town Center Park, the "Harvey Baker Graves Mangrove Reserve", to be dedicated on <br />June 16, 2007, on the 10th Anniversary ofthe City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Naming the Future Observation Walk Path Along the Mangrove Reserve."The <br />City Commission hereby designates the future observation walk path along the mangrove reserve <br />within Town Center Park at 17200 Collins A venue the "Harvey Baker Graves Mangrove <br />Reserve". <br /> <br />Section 2. Directive to Citv Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the City <br />Manager and/or his/her designee to place signage commensurate with this distinction at said <br />mangrove area. <br /> <br />Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all <br />things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. <br /> <br />Section 4. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
